READING WALTER DE LA MARE - Conference at Newnham College, Cambridge. 20th-21st September, 2018

Thomas Hardy was a large influence on Walter de la Mare and his poetry, de la Mare wrote a poem about Max Gate in which he referred to Hardy as 'O Master'.

This is the first international conference on the works of Walter de la Mare. The programme includes an exciting line-up of talks, with keynotes speakers such as Dame Gillian Beer, as well as a pop-up exhibition in collaboration with Caroline Rabei, illustrator of Faber's children's editions of de la Mare's poetry, and a free evening concert including new interpretations of de la Mare's work to be performed live for the first time.
The registration fee is £5, with the option of attending a drinks reception and three-course dinner at Newhman College at the subsidised rate of £24. The concert is free and open to all.
