An original poem inspired by Egdon Heath

The Heaths of Hardy

By Peter Fernandez

The heaths of Hardy breathe with

The soft winds of incessant fate.

Unforseen, tormenting circumstance

Can cause ordinary people to kill.

The timing is so often wrong.

What should have been joy, ends up as grief.

I see the moss, the trembling oak leaf,

The solitary man on the heath.
