The 22nd International Thomas Hardy Conference & Festival

Celebrating 130 years since the publication of The Mayor of Casterbridge
Registration will take place in the United Church in South Street, Dorchester from 12.00 noon on 23rd July. The Conference will be formally opened by our President, Julian Fellowes, Baron Fellowes of West Stafford, at 7.30pm, at the Thomas Hardye School. This will be followed by dinner for delegates and guests and then the celebrated poet, Simon Armitage, will give a talk and reading of his poems.
On Sunday there will be a full-day tour to Stonehenge, Old Sarum and Salisbury, as well as a morning service at Stinsford Church, an afternoon walk around 'Casterbridge' with the Town Crier and COM member Alistair Chisholm and then entertainment by the New Hardy Players at Max Gate in the evening.
Our weekday programme consists of morning lectures; afternoon tours and walks, as well as a Call for Papers sessions, seminars etc.; and entertainments in the evenings.
