Terence Stamp to speak at the 2018 THS Conference and Festival
How could one ever forget the seminal 1967 John Schlesinger movie of Far from the Madding Crowd, and its star-studded cast: Julie Christie as Bathsheba, and her three suitors, Sgt Troy (Terence Stamp), Gabriel Oak (Alan Bates) and Boldwood (Peter Finch)
We are honoured and delighted that Terence Stamp will be our closing speaker at this, the Thomas Hardy Society’s 50th Anniversary Conference and Festival, on Saturday 21st July at 11 am in the United Church.
And to get us in the mood, the Plaza Cinema are giving us a private showing of the film on the Wednesday evening, 18th July, at 7pm. It is quite a long
film, and as in 1967 there will be an interval in which to enjoy an ice-cream.
Capacity is 115 so it’s essential to book in advance.
These two events are ‘part of the package’ for full conference delegates who will be allocated the first places. Remaining tickets can be bought from the
office (firstname.lastname@example.org, or phone 01305 251501, 07812 677485) at £5 for the film and £10 for the talk, first come first served, after 1st June.
