Saturday 5th October A Thomas Hardy Autumn Walk
10.30 am: The walk will begin at the AGM venue: St. Andrew's Church Hall, Church Rd, Preston, Weymouth DT3 6BU, where there is ample car parking. (Grid reference: SY706829). Church Road leads directly off the A353.
The walk, led by Dr Tony Fincham (THS Chairman), will be 8-9 miles through the countryside of The Trumpet-Major and 'The Melancholy Hussar of the German Legion', returning along the coastal path.
There are some steep gradients and proper walking boots or shoes are essential.
Please bring a packed lunch because our intended lunch stop pub (The Sly Fox) has suddenly closed down.
The walk will finish in good time for the start of the AGM at 5pm; prior to which drinks and other refreshments will be available for thirsty walkers!
There are two fish-and-chip shops and a pub (The Spice Ship) very close to the AGM venue at the conclusion of the walk.
The publication of THS Accounts inspected by Mark Cummins Accountants can be viewed here:
5.00 pm: The Thomas Hardy Society Annual General Meeting at St. Andrew's Church Hall, Preston, Weymouth, DT3 6BU. Includes refreshments for very thirsty walkers and all attendees. Both the walk and the AGM are free to attend, but the Society would be grateful to know numbers in advance. Please contact the Secretary, Dr Tracy Hayes, info@hardysociety.org
