Joyce Hurt lives in Blackstone, Virginia. Above is a selection of the Hardy postcards she collected on her visit to Dorset twenty five years ago.

"The first time I went to England was in 1994. We visited Dorchester. I have attached the postcards I bought on that trip. I did my Master’s thesis on JUDE. I have been teaching English for 31 years and always do a Hardy unit each spring. I hope to get back there some day."

Joyce teaching Hardy in the U.S.

Joyce is Instructor of English at the Governer's School of Southside Virginia, Keysville, VA. She teaches a unit on Hardy which includes Far From the Madding Crowd, The Mayor of Casterbridge, Jude the Obscure, and a selection of poetry. Her students particularly enjoyed the 2015 movie version of FFMC.
