An original folk drama drawing on the notebooks of Thomas Hardy

Wyvern - Word Takes Wing

An original folk drama drawing on the notebooks of Thomas Hardy

Saturday 7th March, 8:00pm

Otterham & St Juliot Hall, Marshgate, Cornwall PL32 9YW

This stunning folk-drama features readings, quotations, cameos and traditional music based on the notes in Thomas Hardy's personal journals. These notes trace the origins of the inspirations for some of his novels and provide a fascinating insight into his thinking. Quotations from his books and poems, contemporary newspaper reports and Dorset music and songs arranged for violin, harp and concertina, are woven together in this production. Researched and produced by Sophia Wright, it explores a new and charming deminsion to Hardy's writing, with stunning visual imagery bringing alive the atmospher of 19th century Dorset.

The group Wyvern comprise: Sophia Wright - Director (Voice and Guitar), Sarah Deere-Jones (Harp, Voice, Concertina), Stephen Martin (Narrator), Phil Williams (Voice, Concertina, Melodeon, Guitar), and Steve Potter (Fiddle).
