The National Trust and Hardy's Homes have now closed for the winter. During this time, vital maintenance work will be undertaken. Scaffolding has been erected around the scullery at Max Gate as essential roof repairs get underway.?
?Despite two previous attempts to resolve a persistent leak, water is still finding its way into the scullery roof. While the exact point of entry remains unclear, investigations suggest it may be linked either to the lead lining in the roof valley not extending far enough beneath the slates, or to insufficient overlap between the slates themselves.?
All going well, the repairs should be completed by the time the property reopens in March 2027.
