Going The Rounds 2025

A pictorial review of this biennial event

This biennial event is a firm favourite on the THS calendar. Alastair Braidwood led Musicians, Singers and the New Hardy Players to recreate The Mellstock Quire as featured in Hardy's "Under the Greenwood Tree".

There were two performances, one church-based for the less mobile and one promenading the Parish starting from Hardy’s Cottage to Kingston Maurward and on to Stinsford Church following in the footsteps of the Deweys and Mellstock folk.

Hardy’s words were spoken by authentic Dorset voices with carols of former years, sung in the settings the novelist knew from his childhood.
