Performance in aid of St Laurence Church

THE HARDY ANNUALS will be performing at Briantspuddle Village Hall on Sunday, 1st February at 3pm. Tickets are £12.50, to include a finger buffet and tea/coffee.

Thomas Hardy's fascination with music is reflected throughout his novels and poems. He was deeply immersed in music from a young age, with his father and grandfather playing in the Stinsford Church band, and Hardy himself playing the fiddle at age seven. This upbringing influenced his literature, with musical themes and folk songs appearing in his works. He loved traditional, rural folk music, hymns, often using music to connect the past and present.

The Hardy Annuals use of music and readings accompanied by a fiddle, resonates perfectly with Thomas Hardy's works. Like Hardy, they combine both the serious and comic, tragic and farcical.
