Thomas Hardy's Under the Greenwood Tree or The Mellstock Quire is a bright and optimistic tale of humorous and likeable country folk and a growing love affair, set against the fate of the beloved village choir. It has received British cinematic treatment twice though never an opera...until now.
Fully staged in the Coade Theatre at Bryanston and featuring an exciting cast of renowned international soloists, a full orchestra and the Dorset Opera chorus who all bring the charming tale to life, this is world-class opera in the heart of our beautiful county.
Choose from three performance dates and make an occasion of it by picnicking on the lawns or, on Thursday night, enjoy a formal dinner in one of the staterooms in Bryanston House. This charming new opera by composer Paul Carr will be a treat for opera enthusiasts and fans of Hardy’s literature alike.
Sung in English, with English surtitles.
Tickets range from £45-£110 with some sponsored £10 tickets available to those age under 26.
