Sylvia Townsend Warner, Dorset writer and very interesting character, will be the subject of a talk at Gillingham Library on Thursday, 20th February at 2pm.
Mark Chutter, Academic Director & Chair of The Thomas Hardy Society will discuss her life and read extracts from her works. The talk is free and can be booked via Eventbrite
The pioneer and activist will be the subject of the first female statue in Dorchester. The design for the work by sculptor Denise Dutton shows Townsend Warner seated on a bench with one of her cats, called Susie.
