A most enjoyable morning was had walking round the pretty village of Puddletown, finding out the many family connections that Thomas Hardy had in this once ancient market town.

THS CoM member and local guide, Alban O'Brien entertained the group with many local facts and took us on a tour of places very familiar to Hardy in his day-to-day life. This quaint riverside settlement fueled his imagination, providing the background and inspiring many of the characters and locations in his works. 

We finished off with a delicious Sunday lunch at The Blue Vinny.
