Word Takes Wing - an original folk-drama taken from Hardy's notebooks

Word Takes Wing by Wyvern

An original folk-drama adapted from Hardy's notebooks

Wednesday 24th April at Dorchester Corn Exchange

An original folk-drama drawing on the notebooks of writer Thomas Hardy
comes to Dorchester Arts on Wednesday 24 April at 8pm.

In a private journal he recorded reports and anecdotes from local
papers and magazines such as the Dorset County Chronicle that amused
or interested him. They tell of 19th century lives and dreams, hopes
and despair, love and laughter.

Musicians and actors of the group Wyvern have traced snippets and
jottings that Hardy wove into his poems and novels, where the words
have 'taken wing' from dry prose to rich imaginative literature. These
extraordinary stories, always observant and often quirky are brought
to life through carefully chosen extracts, lively music and dramatic
readings.

Tickets are £13 full price or £11 for Members of Dorchester Arts,
under-18s or those on low income and are available from the Dorchester
Arts box office on 01305 266926, in person at the Corn Exchange
(weekdays 10am - 4pm) or via www.dorchesterarts.org.uk . Members of
Live for 5 aged 14 – 25 can buy tickets for £5 (see Dorchester Arts
website for details).
